Whether you're writing your very first poem or refining your craft, this workshop series — from June to August across five library locations in Jersey City — is designed to help you write, perform, and publish your poetry. 

Join Jersey City poet and acclaimed author Lisa Marie Basile for an inclusive, supportive exploration of poetry designed to inspire writers of all experience levels. No sharing necessary—you're welcome to come and simply take notes.

 August — Get Published: This welcoming and practical workshop will kickstart your publishing journey. We'll discuss what it takes to prepare your poetry for publication, find magazines and literary journals that want to publish your work, and how to promote and share your writing. 

Each session is designed to build skills, spark creativity, and foster community. All are welcome — no experience necessary!

About the Instructor: Lisa Marie Basile is an author, poet, and editor based in Jersey City, NJ and NYC. Her work can be found in The New York Times, Best American Experimental Writing, Best Small Fictions, and more. She is the author of a few books of poetry, including SAINT OF (White Stag Publishing, 2025), Nympholespy (Inside the Castle, 2019, which was a finalist in the 2017 Tarpaulin Sky Book Awards selected by Bhanu Kapil), Apocryphal (Noctuary Press, 2014), and Andalucia (The Poetry Society of New York, 2012). She holds an MFA from The New School in NYC and is the founding editor of Luna Luna Magazine.
